Day 1: Explore the Bund

Start your first day in Shanghai by visiting the Bund, a waterfront area that offers a glimpse into the city's colonial past. No visit to Shanghai is complete without trying some of the city's famous cuisine. Start your day by visiting a local restaurant and trying some of the city's specialties, such as xiaolongbao (soup dumplings) or shengjianbao (pan-fried buns filled with pork and soup).

After your meal, head to Tianzifang, an artsy and bohemian area filled with galleries, cafes, and boutique shops. Explore the narrow streets and alleyways, and admire the street art and unique architecture. Stop for a coffee or tea at one of the many cafes, or browse the many shops selling handmade crafts and souvenirs.

Day 4: Learn About Chinese History at the Shanghai Museum and Jing'an Temple

On your fourth day, delve into Chinese history and culture by visiting the Shanghai Museum. The museum houses a vast collection of Chinese art and artifacts, including bronze sculptures, porcelain, and calligraphy. Make sure to visit the Chinese minority nationalities' cultures exhibition to learn about the various ethnic groups in China.

After the museum, head to Jing'an Temple, a famous Buddhist temple that dates back to the Tang Dynasty. Admire the temple's beautiful architecture and peaceful atmosphere, and make sure to visit the jade Buddha statue located within the temple's walls.

Day 5: Shopping and Sightseeing in Pudong

On your final day in Shanghai, head to Pudong, the city's modern and bustling financial district. Visit the Oriental Pearl Tower, one of Shanghai's most iconic landmarks, and take in the views from the observation deck. Walk along the Lujiazui Promenade and admire the impressive skyscrapers that line the Huangpu River.

End your trip with some shopping at the various malls and boutiques in the area, such as Super Brand Mall and the IFC mall. Be sure to visit the Jinmao Tower, a stunning skyscraper that houses a hotel, offices, and a shopping mall.
