Day 1: Exploring the Old Town of Lijiang

One of the top attractions in Lijiang is its well-preserved old town, featuring traditional Naxi architecture, winding alleys, and charming water canals. Start your day by wandering through the narrow streets, admiring the ornate wooden buildings and picturesque courtyards. Visit the Mu Family Mansion, a vast complex of ancestral halls and gardens dating back to the 14th century, and the Wangu Pavilion, an elegant pavilion with panoramic views of the city.

Don't miss the chance to try some local specialties, such as Lijiang Baba (pancake) and Yak meat dishes. For a taste of the local nightlife, visit the bars and teahouses along the lively Bar Street and sample some of the region's famous teas and spirits.

Day 2: Discovering the Natural Beauty of Lijiang

Lijiang is also renowned for its stunning natural scenery, including snow-capped peaks, deep gorges, and crystal-clear lakes. Spend your second day exploring the great outdoors and experiencing the eco-tourism attractions the city has to offer.

Begin your day with a visit to the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, a UNESCO World Heritage site featuring 13 peaks over 4,000 meters high. Take a cable car ride to the mountain's summit and enjoy unparalleled views of the surrounding landscape. Next, stop by the Blue Moon Valley, a picturesque mountain lake famous for its azure waters and reflection of surrounding peaks.

After lunch, head to Tiger Leaping Gorge, one of the deepest and most spectacular gorges in the world that offers stunning views of the Jinsha River. Hike along the trails to the observation deck and witness the thunderous roar of the river.

Day 3: Experiencing Lijiang's Cultural Heritage

Lijiang is also home to ancient traditions and unique customs, deeply rooted in its multi-ethnic history. On your last day, delve into the city's cultural heritage and learn about the different ethnic groups that call Lijiang home.

Visit the Dongba Cultural Museum, which houses over 10,000 ancient Dongba scripts, artifacts, and murals, documenting the cultural history and beliefs of the Naxi people. Next, follow the footsteps of the ancient Tea Horse Road, an important trade route connecting Yunnan, Sichuan, and Tibet. Visit the Black Dragon Pool, a mystical garden and temple complex dating back to the Qing Dynasty, and learn about its legend of a black dragon living in the bottom of the pool.

Before leaving Lijiang, don't forget to shop for some local souvenirs, such as traditional Naxi embroidery, silverwares, and tea leaves. Head to the local markets and bargaining is expected!
