Day 1: Exploring the City Center

On your first day in Chongqing, start by exploring the city center. Take a stroll along Jiefangbei Pedestrian Street, where you can soak up the bustling atmosphere, do some shopping, and take in the stunning high-rise buildings. Day 2: Enjoying Nature

Chongqing is blessed with natural beauty, and your second day should be devoted to exploring the great outdoors. Head to the Dazu Rock Carvings, a UNESCO World Heritage Site located about 160 kilometers from the city center. These carvings date back to the 7th century and depict Buddhist, Taoist, and Confucian cultural relics.

Here, you can try the famous Chongqing hotpot, as well as other Sichuan dishes such as mapo tofu, kung pao chicken, and dan dan noodles. In the afternoon, visit Nanshan Mountain to enjoy panoramic views of the city and try some of the local tea at a tea house.

In the evening, visit the Hong'en Temple Night Market, where you can savor a variety of late-night snacks, including grilled skewers, spicy crayfish, and sweetened lotus root.

Day 5: Admiring Architecture

Chongqing is known for its stunning architecture, both traditional and modern. On your last day, start by visiting the Hongya Cave Bridge, an iconic cable-stayed bridge that connects two hills and offers panoramic views of the city. Then, head to the People's Assembly Hall, a magnificent Art Deco building that houses the Chongqing Municipal Government.

Next, visit the Luohan Temple, a Buddhist temple built in the Tang Dynasty which houses over 500 life-size clay sculptures of arhats or Buddhist saints. Finally, end your trip by visiting the Chongqing Grand Theatre, a modern building designed by famous architect Ma Yansong, which hosts regular performances of music, dance, opera, and theater.
